Twin Valley accepts donation

WEST ALEXANDRIA — Twin Valley Community Local Board of Education met on Monday, April 25, and accepted a $100,000 donation.

The anonymous gift is to be used toward facilities updates, according to board members.

In other business:

  • The board acknowledged potential of a pending five-figure donation to the district.
  • Clint Bartlett was was announced as Twin Valley South’s new head varsity football coach. This is his first head coaching position, having previously assisted at Beavercreek, Oakwood, and Miami Trace.

  • Twin Valley South is applying for the Healthier Buckeye Grant, which if received would give the district funding to employ a full-time social worker in the school.

  • Twin Valley South science educator Cathy Ackerman has been selected as Vectren’s of the year, and will be honored on May 10.

  • The board noted pending replacement of a memorial tree on the school lawn.

  • Elementary students Joslynn Beneke and Lily Bailey were selected as two of 46 students in Ohio to compete in the Invention Convention finals in Washington, D.C. later this spring.
  • Facilities updates, summer work hours for staff, and routine school cleaning were scheduled and approved for summer 2016.
  • The Great Ohio Bike Adventure was approved to use the high school as a stop on their tour through the state on June 22.
