GRATIS TOWNSHIP — A Camden man died as a result of a single vehicle crash in Gratis Township over the weekend.

According to Preble County Sheriff Mike Simpson, the PCSO is investigating the one-vehicle fatal which occurred Saturday, April 23, at approximately 11:33 p.m.

The crash occurred on Ohio 122, north of Greenbush Road. According to Simpson, the preliminary investigation indicated that a 2011 Chevrolet Impala was traveling north on Ohio 122 and left the right side of the roadway. The vehicle struck a driveway/culvert and went airborne, Simpson said in a release.

The vehicle flipped and came to rest on its top.

The driver of the vehicle, Charles Osborne, 66 of Camden, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Neither occupant of the vehicle was wearing their seatbelt at the time of the crash, according to Simpson.

In a press release, Simpson noted, deputies “are working to determine if alcohol was a factor in the crash.”

Gratis Fire Department and EMS and West Elkton-Gratis Township Fire Department responded to the scene.

The crash remained under investigation by the Preble County Sheriff’s Office at press time.
