School district attempts to locate children with disabilities

0

CAMDEN —Preble Shawnee Local Schools are trying to identify children with disabilities who are age 21 and younger and who may be in need of special education services. The school district is conducting the intensive awareness campaign under requirements within the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act, the Ohio Revised Code and the State Board of Education Rules for the Education of Handicapped Children. Anyone knowing a child they suspect has problems with speech, hearing, physical development, vision or other suspected problems, should contact the school district. Each public school district offers evaluation for children with disabilities from age three through age 21 and education for all children with disabilities age three through 21. Once a school district is notified, the children’s parents are contacted and notified of their rights, and arrangements can be made to evaluate the child in cooperation with the parents.

Additional information may be obtained by contacting Director of Special Education or the Superintendent, Preble Shawnee Local School, 124 Bloomfield Street, Camden, Ohio, telephone 937-452, 1283, extension 0.
