PREBLE COUNTY — Looking for some dirt, tractors, and family fun?

The 2015 Preble County Smokeout takes place this weekend, and will be the place to be for all those things.

The Smokeout runs Friday and Saturday, June 26-27 at the Preble County Fairgrounds. The weekend is packed with plenty of events for all ages. Events aside from the main tractor pulls include a Power Wheel obstacle course and drag race, and also a kiddie tractor pull.

There will also be a truck show and Saturday night raffle, and many food and shop vendors will also be on hand for the event.

The Smokeout isn’t a new event for the people of Preble County. In fact, it has been running for five years now. The event not only provides entertainment, but the proceeds raised benefit the Preble County Fairgrounds.

“The money raised goes right back in supporting the Preble County Fairgrounds,” Buff Anspaugh of Eaton said. “The event gets bigger every year for us, and a lot of people come out to support.”

“Our goal is to improve every year on the event, and raise as much money as we can for the Preble County Fairgrounds,” Lori Monebrake said. “One of those goals includes building and providing a new restroom facility for the fairgrounds. The Senior Fair Board puts on the event and our goal is always to improve.”

Mark Bruner and John Downard of Preble County Diesel are on the fair board committee which helps contribute to the Preble County Smokeout.

The event does include a $10 gate fee. T-shirts and souvenirs will be available at the event.

Gates open at 4 p.m. on Friday and 9 a.m. on Saturday.
