Trail BOE holds organizational meeting for 2016, Blevins elected President, Harris VP

NEW PARIS —The National Trail Board of Education selected Andy Blevins to act as the board president in 2016 during the district’s organizational meeting on Monday, Jan. 11.

David Harris will act as the board’s vice president after being selected for the position unanimously.

Blevins will also act as the board’s legislative liaison, Cindy Lee will act as the board’s student achievement liaison and the Preble County Youth Foundation representative will be Gary Moore.

The board approved all meetings to be held on the fourth Tuesday of the month starting at 6:30 p.m. in the district office.

The board also held the January regular meeting immediately following the organizational meeting, and hired Brad Hampton to act as the school district’s high school boys’ and girls’ track coach.

The board viewed a presentation by the National Trail FFA parliamentary team which was honored for finishing in sixth place in the state at competition.

Ron Bauman was approved as a retire/rehire for seventh grade language arts position.

Randy Kearns, Joy Yeazle, James Byrd and Lisa McCloskey were all rehired by the district to remain in their coaching positions with the school. Kerns will return to football, Yeazel continues as volleyball coach, Byrd will remain with cross country and McCloskey will enter her second year as girls’ soccer coach.

The next board of education meeting is scheduled for Monday, Feb. 22, at 6:30 p.m.
