Eaton Area Community Chorus to perform with RCO

RICHMOND, INDIANA — The Richmond Community Orchestra (RCO) along with the Eaton Area Community Chorus (EACC), both under the direction of Jay Conard, will be presenting a Christmas holiday Concert on Sunday, Nov. 29, at 3:30 pm. The cncert will be performed in Goddard Auditorium, Carpenter Hall, on the Earlham College campus (801 National Road West, Richmond, Indiana).

Admission is free.

RCO members have had only four weeks to prepare a completely new concert, with the holiday concert differing in both style and composition from the Fall Concert.

Everyone is invited to come and let the RCO and the EACC help them transition their thoughts and spirits into the Christmas holiday mood. Musical selections range from the always familiar “Winter Wonderland” and “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” to Mel Torme’s all time favorite “The Christmas Song” to a much lesser known “Musicological Journey Through Twelve Days of Christmas.”

The selections will include a “Christmas Sing-a-Long” of familiar carols arranged for the RCO and EACC by our own Jay Conard. Of course no Christmas chorus concert would be complete without a rendition of Handel’s “And the Glory of the Lord” and then the ever familiar “Hallelujah Chorus,” (both arranged for the combined group by Conard.)

The RCO is blessed with players from high school age to senior citizens but is always looking for more musicians to join the orchestra, especially string players. For further information, visit the RCO website at www.rcoindiana.org or come to the concert and talk afterward with some of the current members.
