Kindergarten registration

Hollingsworth East Elementary in Eaton, will hold kindergarten registration for the 2017-2018 school year, March 6-9. When registering, parents are required to bring their child’s birth certificate, immunization record, proof of residency, driver’s license or state ID card of custodial parent, and any custody documents that apply. Children must be five years of age prior to August 1, 2017, to enroll. Registration hours are: March 6 and 8, from 9-11:30 a.m. and 12:30-3 p.m. Evening registration will take place on Tuesday and Thursday, March 7 and 9, from 4-6:30 p.m. Parents may call the school office at 937-456-5173 with questions about kindergarten registration.

COG meeting

The Preble County Schools Regional Council of Governments will be meeting on Tuesday, March 7, at 9 a.m., at the Preble County Educational Service Center, 597 Hillcrest Drive, Eaton. The purpose of the meeting is to review insurance programs and any other business that needs brought before the COG at that time.

BOE meeting

The Preble County Board of Elections will conduct a regular business meeting on Thursday, Feb. 16, at 3 p.m. in the board’s office at 101 E. Main St., Eaton.

PSWCD scholarship available

The Preble Soil and Water Conservation District is once again offering a $1,000 college scholarship to a resident of Preble County entering his or her sophomore year or above at an accredited college. Students pursuing an associate or bachelor’s degree in the field of agriculture or natural resources and who are registered for classes in fall 2017 are eligible. The full criteria and application for the scholarship can be found on the website at www.prebleswcd.org or by stopping by the office at 1651 N. Barron Street, Eaton. Marion Lawrence report available

The Annual Financial Report of the Marion Lawrence Memorial Library is complete for 2016. The report is available at the office of the clerk-treasurer.

PS BOE meeting

The Preble Shawnee Board of Education has scheduled a work session for Feb. 16, at 8:30 a.m. The meeting will be held at the Preble Shawnee Board of Education Offices, 124 Bloomfield St., Camden. The regular February meeting will follow at 4 p.m.

Meeting postponed

The March meeting of the Preble County Park District has been postponed to Friday, March 17, at 9 a.m. in the Eaton City Building on Maple Street. The public is welcome to attend.

OPRD teen programming

OXFORD — Oxford Parks and Recreation (OPRD) has a teen program planned for grades 6-12 for both residents and non-residents. A Lazer Kraze trip is planned for Thursday, Feb. 16, from 5-9 p.m. Participants must register online or in person by Feb. 11. The fee is $28 for residents and $31 for non-residents. Transportation will be provided.
