Counseling Center opens in Oxford

OXFORD — After a year-long hiatus, the Oxford community will once again have access to mental health services. Butler Behavioral Health opened the Oxford Counseling Center on Jan. 9.

Previously, mental health services in Oxford had come from The Community Counseling and Crisis Center of St. Aloysius, but that center closed in October 2015. Miami University students have access to counseling services through the university, but there has been a lack of services for community members, according to city officials.

Resident’s without insurance have been traveling for services for the past year, but the Oxford Counseling Center should put an end to that.

The center is located at 5223 College Corner Pike. Office hours will be: Monday through Thursday 8 a.m.-5 p.m., and Friday 8 a.m.-4 p.m.

The center asks those interested in securing services to come in during office hours.

On first visit, bring:

•Proof of household income

•Insurance/Medicare/Ohio Medicaid Card

•Medicaid denial letter (if applicable)

•Social security number of responsible party for services to minors

For additional information, contact the center at 513-273-8064.
