Create, Explore, and More!

Jump into the Eaton Library’s different creative and exploratory stations on Saturday, Aug. 20, starting at 1:30 p.m. Some stations will include robotic Cubelets, edible architecture, and more. Drop in and have fun as a family. There’s something fun for everyone!

Fall Story Time Registration (Eaton Library)

Registration begins Sept. 1 for the six-week sessions of story time at the Eaton Branch of Preble County District Library.

The programs offered are “Mother Goose Lap-Time” for children ages 6 months to 3 years on Wednesdays or Thursdays at 10:30 am. This is a 30-minute class.

“Library Mice Preschool Storytime” is for children ages three to kindergarten. This class is available on Wednesday or Thursday mornings at 10:30 a.m. or Thursday afternoons at 4:45 p.m. This is a 45-minute class.

“After School Crafts” are for children ages 6 to 12 years old. This class is on Thursday afternoons at 4:45 p.m. and runs for 60 minutes.

The fall session will run from Oct. 5-Nov. 10

Teens (grades 6-12)

DIY Back to School Crafts

Get ready for classes at the Eaton Library on Tuesday, Aug. 23, at 3:30 p.m. For teens in grades 6-12, we’ll have plenty of materials to deck out your school supplies, craft some school stuff from scratch, and we’ll even give away school supplies as door prizes! Registration is required for this program. Stop by the front desk at 301 N. Barron St. or call 937-456-4331 to register.

Book Talk

Join us in August to discuss your favorite books of the summer! Pick a book or two to recommend to the group. If you’re not a reader, recommend a movie. It’ll be a great time to pick up something to add to your to-read (or to-watch) list. Catch Book Talk at the following dates, times, and locations:

Wednesday, Aug. 17, at 5:30 p.m. at the West Alexandria Library

Tuesday, Aug. 23, at 4 p.m. at the Eldorado Library

Wednesday, Aug. 24, at 4 p.m. at the West Manchester Library.

Book a Librarian

Do you need help with your e-reader, resume and job search, Microsoft Office, the library’s electronic resources, or a basic computer issue? Get one-on-one help with these and a multitude of other issues with the library’s ‘Book A Librarian’ program. Our Reference Librarian will be at the West Alexandria Library on Wednesday, Aug. 10, from 2-4 p.m. Drop-in anytime for help. If you need help with a mobile device, like a tablet or smartphone, please bring the device.

Quilting history

It’s not just Grandma’s quilt anymore: you can learn the history of quilts and quilting at the Eaton Library on Saturday, Aug. 27, at 2 p.m. Deb Crumbaker, avid quilter and member of the PC Genealogical Society and Daughters of the American Revolution, will take us on a journey into the rich and colorful history of quilting.

Adult Henna Tattoos

The art of henna tattooing (also known as Mehndi) involves making decorative designs on the skin and staining the designs with henna made from the Egyptian evergreen plant Lawsonia Inermis. Henna designs may remain on the skin up to a month or more depending upon the method used. Join us at the Eaton Library on Thursday, Sept. 8, at 6:30 p.m. to create and apply your own henna tattoos. All supplies will be provided. Call 456-4331 or visit the Eaton library to register. A signed release form will be required to participate.

E-Reader Class

Learn to search the Ohio Digital Library and borrow e-books from the library. Bring your e-reader and any questions to the Eaton Library on Saturday, Sept. 10, at 1 p.m. Call the Reference Department at 937-456-5562 to register for the class.
