Car Show

King Hiram Masonic Lodge #88 is sponsoring its Annual Car Show on Saturday, June 25, from noon-4 p.m. at Peace Park. Entry fee is $10 and registration begins at noon. There will be door prizes and a 50/50 raffle. Trophies and Dash Plaques, sponsored by Weber’s Body & Frame, include: Best of Show, Best Paint, Best Motorcycle and Best Golf Cart. Proceeds will benefit veteran charities.

Rubber Duck Regatta, Silent Auction

Silent auction prizes include: a six-month YMCA Family Pass valued at $366, two Reds tickets to the Milwaukee game, and more! The WA Celebration Committee is holding their annual Rubber Duck Regatta and Silent Auction on Saturday, June 25 from 5-8 p.m. at the American Legion. Come support our organization, cheer for your favorite rubber duck and bid on items in the Silent Auction. Money raised is used to provide the community with fireworks for July 4, and new toys for Santa Villa. Get your Rubber Duck at the Regatta or during the Farmer’s Market, Thursday, June 23. July 4 Celebration in the Park

The WA Celebration Committee is sponsoring their annual July 4 Celebration in the Park at Peace Park, beginning with the parade at 12:30 p.m. There will be food vendors, music, games, contests and prizes! The parade will line-up at the TVS School parking lot at noon. The Big Bang Boom Car Show runs from 4-7 p.m. Put on your red, white and blue and come out to the Preble County Idol Round 1 Auditions (a-capella only) from 2-4 p.m. There are cash prizes for the top three Idol finalists! The lighted parade will line up at 9 p.m. in the Salem Lutheran Church parking lot and will begin its route for the TVS School parking lot at 9:30 p.m. The sensational fireworks display will begin at 10 p.m. at the Twin Valley South School parking lot.

Big Bang Boom! Cruise-in Car and Bike Show

The July 4 Big Bang Boom! Cruise-in Car and Bike Show runs from 4-7 p.m. as part of the WA Celebration Committee July 4 Celebration in the Park. Registration fee is $10. Prize money to be awarded. Entries are available on site, at The Pin Up Shoppe or at the Farmers’ Market in Peace Park on Thursday evenings. Contact Deb Smith on Facebook for additional info. or by calling 937-248-5503.

Farmer’s Market

Support the WA Celebration Committee’s weekly Farmers’ Market every Thursday from 5-8 p.m., May through September. We showcase local food and produce vendors, local entertainment and independent consultants, including but not limited to Avon and Tupperware, and many local crafters who offer incredible deals! Space is still available if you wish to be a vendor. We offer live music, hot food, cold beverages, free parking and have public restrooms. Community Cookbooks are available at the Farmer’s Market and the Pin Up Shoppe at 50 W. Second Street. All money raised is used by the Celebration Committee to provide the community with fireworks for July 4, and new toys for Santa Villa. Foodbank

Needs are ramen noodles, pancake mix, syrup, shampoo, and toothpaste. The Foodbank is open from 10a.m. to 12p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays and is located at St. John Church, 20 E. South Street. Contact the Foodbank at 839-1615 for additional information. Non-perishable donations can also be dropped off at Salem and St. John Lutheran Churches the first Sunday of each month.

July 4 Community Worship

A Fortieth Anniversary W.A.C.O.C.A. Community Worship Service will be conducted in Peace Park on Sunday, July 3, beginning at 10 a.m. There will be a balloon launch to commemorate the fortieth anniversary of W.A.C.O.C.A. and a Worship service with patriotic hymns. The Rev. Jerry Carter will deliver the message during worship. Offering is designated for the W.A.C.O.C.A. Good Samaritan Fund. If desired, you may bring your own folding lawn chairs.

Community VBS

W.A.C.O.C.A. Community Churches are sponsoring a Vacation Bible School July 18-22 from 6-7:30 p.m. at the First Brethren Church, 28 E. Third Street. Children from Preschool through sixth grade will enjoy amazing activities, games, crafts, music and great Bible lessons. Parents can register their children by calling the church at 839-4159.

St. John Church

St. John will hold Sunday Worship and a Church Picnic on Sunday, June 26, at Joe Smith’s home, 745 Lakengren Cove in Lakengren.

We will supply supper to the Homeless Shelter at 6 p.m. on Thursday, June 30.

This month’s mission is World Vision, Tap Children in Romania.

Church of the Brethren

The next Free Community Meal will be Wednesday, July 6 from 5-6:30 p.m. at the Church of the Brethren, 22 E. Oak Street.

St. John Lutheran, Ingomar

Dayton Women of the ELCA are hosting “Advance -Don’t Retreat” at Golden Gate Park in Brookville, Ohio, July 16 from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Our purpose is to raise awareness of the issues of human trafficking of women and children in our communities, celebrate those who’ve survived and thank God for our caring community of Christian women. Early deadline by June 25 is $15. From June 25- July 10, registration will be $20. Registration includes continental breakfast, box lunch and snacks. Holden Prayer Around the Cross services will be held from 7-7:30p.m. once a month on Wednesday, July 13, Aug. 10 and Sept. 14. These evenings of prayer are held outside under the picnic shelter so we can end our days on a positive and peaceful note.

Lorey Collins is holding dog obedience classes for beginners behind the church on Saturday mornings from 9-11 a.m. for six sessions, ending July 24. There will be no classes July 4 weekend. St. John Lutheran members are offered half price, at $50 for all six sessions. Non-member price is $100 for all six sessions. Former attendees may have a refresher course for free. We will be making sleeping mats for the homeless at the church on Saturday, June 18 from 9-11 a.m. and are accepting donations of brightly-colored grocery bags.

We will have a Carry-in Breakfast and Outdoor Worship Service on Sunday, June 26.
