Kids and Families

After School Fun

Unwind after school at the Camden Library. We’ll play games and have snacks on Tuesday, May 10 and Tuesday, May 24 at 5:30 p.m. each day.

Homeschool Hour: Food Science

Learn about how food is made at the May Homeschool Hour. Open to all homeschool students and educators, this class will teach you about some of the ways science has helped our food supply. Homeschool Hour is on Wednesday, May 18 at 3 p.m. in the Preble County District Library meeting room at 450 S. Barron St. in Eaton.

Fire/EMS appreciation

Show your appreciation for your local EMS department at the West Alexandria Library in May. On May 11, visit the library any time (12-7 p.m.) and make a card to be given to the West Alexandria EMS Department.

Pizza and games!

Bring the kids to the library for our game night pizza parties! We’ll exercise our brains and deductive skills and enjoy some delicious pizza! The Eldorado Library will have a game/pizza party on Tuesday, May 17 at 4 p.m., and you can catch the same party at the West Manchester Library on Wednesday, May 18 at 4 p.m.

Make a fort in your library!

Everyone loves building forts. Come to the library and use materials like cardboard, duct tape, and construction paper to build what’s sure to be an awesome fort. This will be a fun program for parents and children to work together. We’ll then display the fort in the library.

Construction starts Saturday, May 21 at 1 p.m. at the Eaton Library. All building materials will be provided.

Teens (grades 6-12)

Pokkén Tournament

Try the newly released Pokkén Tournament game for the Wii U! We’ll play tournament style, and the top player will win a Pokemon-themed hat! Everyone will leave with a prize, and we’ll have snacks during the tournament! Pokkén Tournaments will be at the:

West Elkton Library on Wednesday, May 18 at 4:30 p.m.

Eldorado Library on Thursday, May 26 at 4:30 p.m.

Teen Creative Writing Group

Local teens can spur their creative juices at the Teen “Write On!” writing club. We’ll have creative writing prompts, snacks, and you can talk with other teens about writing. You can share aloud, but you don’t have to.

Join us on Tuesday, May 17 at 3:30 p.m. at the Eaton Branch Library (301 N. Barron St.). Registration is required. Register in person at the library or call 937-456-4331.

Plastic Bag Printmaking

Have you ever wanted to be artsy and try printmaking? Here’s your chance! We’re going to be doing a fun technique with plastic bags, lots of colorful paint, and brayers to spread out the paint of our designs. All supplies provided, and you get to take your art pieces home. We’ll also be having snacks!

We’ll be doing plastic bag printmaking on Tuesday, May 10 and Friday, May 13 at 3:30 p.m. each day. Registration is required. Stop by the Eaton Branch Library or call 456-4331 to register.

Teen Movie

Eaton Teens Grades 6-12, watch a movie and eat snacks at the Eaton Library on Tuesday, May 24 at 3:30 p.m. This month, we’ll see the latest in the film series from a galaxy far, far away.

Registration is required. Stop by the Eaton Branch or call 456-4331 to register. The movie will end at approximately 5:50 p.m.

Novel Discussion Book Club

Join us at the Eaton Branch of Preble County District Library for our monthly book discussion. This month, we’ll meet Thursday, May 19 at 6:30 p.m. to discuss “The Things We Keep” by Sally Hepworth, author of “The Paris Wife” and “A Ticket to Ride.” The Novel Discussion book club meets the third Thursday of every month.

Adult Crafting: Doodling

Whether you call it Zentangle or Zen doodle, it just simply fun! And relaxing! Start with a simple shape, repeat. Add a line, repeat. Continue until you are lost in the process. Bring a friend and join us at location or time that is convenient for you. Sign-ups are appreciated.
