Bingo — There are only three more Thursdays left before we take a summer break. The Hog Wild Jackpot has gone hog wild crazy; it has reached $1,400. The lucky winner will automatically win $100 and then their chance at the $1,400. You can’t win if you don’t come out and play Thursdays at 6p.m. All proceeds benefit the West Alexandria Firefighters Association and Department.

WABO Opening Day

West Alexandria Baseball Organization Opening Day Ceremonies will begin at 11a.m. on Saturday, April 30. The Parade will line up in the TVS parking lot and end at the WABO park, followed by the introduction of teams, announcements, the National Anthem and Baseball! The concession stand will be open for snacks and refreshments.

American Legion

The next Fish Fry will be held Saturday April 16 from 5-7 p.m. at James E. Ryan Post 322, 1477 Ohio 503 South.

Euchre night is Ladies Night every Wednesday at 7 p.m. There is a $5 entry fee, prizes, a 50/50 raffle and it is open to the public.

Enjoy Old-time Country and Western music every Thursday from 1-4 p.m. with the Senior Fun Bunch. This is open to the public and includes coffee and snacks with no cover charge.

Get your Foursome together and sign up for our SAL Golf Tourney, coming up on Sunday, May 15.

AKS Euchre Tourney and Dance

Alpha Kappa Sorority is having their annual Euchre Tournament and Dance on Saturday, April 23 at 5 p.m. at the American Legion, 1477 Ohio 503 S. Euchre is $15 a person which includes cards, dance, snacks, pop and water. Spots fill up fast so please let a member know if you want to play. The dance will start at 8p.m. and pre-sale admission is $8 a person or $10 at the door. DJ Nikki Plank will be playing again. There will be lots of door prizes and raffle items!! We will have a shot bar or BYOB.

AKS Scholarships

Alpha Kappa Sorority is offering two $500 scholarships to two graduating seniors attending the Twin Valley South High School or West Alexandria seniors attending MVCTC. The recipient of these scholarships must be planning to attend an accredited college, university, technical school or community college. The selection will be based upon academic qualifications, participation in extracurricular activities, a written essay and a teacher recommendation. Applications for these scholarships can be picked up at the Twin Valley South High School Guidance Office. Check your Guidance office for deadline. Alpha Kappa Sorority is proud once again to offer these two scholarships to deserving students of Twin Valley South High School.

Coterie Scholarships

The WA Coterie Club provides two $500 scholarships available for graduating TVS/MVCTC seniors. Please apply in the TVS HS Guidance office. Contact Carol Lunsford, 937-839-4085 for more information.

Kiwanis Chicken BBQ

The Kiwanis Chicken BBQ will begin at 11 a.m. until sold out on April 24 at the WA Fire House, 25 E. Dayton Street. Proceeds help fund the many community projects of the club including the annual scholarship for a qualifying Senior at Twin Valley South High School.

Rod and Gun Club

The Twin Valley Rod and Gun Club is, again, sponsoring its annual Turkey Shoot each Sunday at 1 p.m. through April 24. This event is open to the public and we hope to see a nice crowd.

Senior Citizen Dinner

Twin Valley South High School, with financial support of four local service organizations, will be sponsoring a senior citizen dinner on Tuesday, April 26 at 5:30 p.m. The dinner is free to all senior citizens in the Twin Valley Community Local School District. Reservations may be made by calling the school office at 839-4693 or 839-4688. The deadline for reservations is Monday, April 25. Entertainment will be provided following the dinner. The service groups making the dinner possible are the Alpha Kappa Sorority, Coterie Club, West Alex Lions Club and West Alex Kiwanis Club.

St. John Church

Youth will meet Wednesday, April 20 at 6:30 p.m. to set up for the World Vision Youth Garage Sale to be held Thursday, April 21 from 9a.m.-4p.m. at 20 E. South Street. Items for the Garage Sale are to be dropped off by Sunday, April 17.

Eric Peterson will be a guest speaker on Sunday, April 10.

Spring Planting Day will be April 23 from 10a.m.-12p.m.

St. John will supply the Homeless Shelter Supper on April 28.

April’s Mission is for the Church World Service.

Salem Lutheran Church

LYO Free Family Movie Night at the ByJo Theater will be Saturday, April 23; time is to be announced. Check our Facebook page for updates at www.facebook.com/SalemLutheranYouthGroup.

The SOS group will visit the Creation Museum April 23. Contact Diana Wall at 839-5326 for tickets and additional information.

The Men’s Breakfast and Bible Study will meet at 7:30 a.m. Saturday, April 16 in the Fellowship Hall.

New Eyes For the Needy — Salem Women of the Church are collecting used eye glasses to be donated to the local Lions Club. A donation box is located in the church Library.

April Showers — The Women are collecting new socks (please no infant sizes) for Graceworks/Once Around Shop in Eaton. There is a basket in the Lounge for monetary donations and socks.

The Women of the Church are compiling a 200 Anniversary cookbook, and would like your tried and true, old or new recipes! Contact Polly Voge at 839-4721 or Clara Wienhoff at 715-2200.

Coups for Troops needs your unwanted or recently expired coupons which can be used in Military Commissaries overseas up to two months past the expiration date. Place in the basket located in the church Library.
