PCAA among non-profits awarded Greenlight Grants

DAYTON — The Dayton Foundation has awarded 14 grants totaling $30,777 to area not-for-profits as part of its first Greenlight Grants program.

Locally, the Preble County Art Association was named an awardee.

Greenlight Grants is a new competitive funding program for Greater Dayton nonprofits seeking quick, small grants for special projects, program expansions, capital improvements or capacity building. Grants are approved to promote efforts in the areas of arts and culture, health, education, human services, philanthropy and other community-building endeavors.

Greenlight Grants were awarded to the following organizations:

Blue Star Mothers of America – Miami Valley Chapter #3 ($2,000): help purchase coats, hats and gloves for military veterans in need.

Bradford Ohio Railroad Museum ($2,000): assist with promoting rail and heritage tourism and leveraging additional funding from the State of Ohio.

Centerville-Washington History ($2,000): create History on the Go learning modules to take to schools, retirement centers and other facilities.

Dayton Playhouse ($4,000): assist with replacing a 25-year-old sound system.

Greater Dayton Volunteer Lawyers Project ($2,000): aid in purchasing additional technology to better serve an increasing number of low-income senior citizens with wills and advanced life directives.

Greene Giving ($2,000): help label storm drains to encourage residents to protect water supplies by not throwing foreign materials down the drains.

Interfaith Hospitality Network of Greene County ($3,347): assist in purchasing commercial-grade laundry appliances for use at the homeless shelter.

Preble County Art Association ($2,430): help purchase a clay slab roller to better assist individuals with disabilities and other students enrolled in pottery classes.

Tecumseh Land Trust ($2,000): help promote federal tax incentive of donated conservation easements to landowners in key water quality protection areas.

Therapeutic Riding Institute ($4,000): help purchase two riding saddles and tack to accommodate students with special needs.

Veterans Memorial Museum Foundation ($1,000): assist with building repairs.

Xenia Adult Recreation and Services Center ($3,000): help expand garage to house additional wheelchair-accessible buses.

Xenia Area Community Theatre ($1,000): assist in purchasing an electronic loop for transmitting audio to devices used by individuals with hearing impairments.
