Happy Easter and spring!
Blue skies overhead, birds singing, kids riding their bikes and also talking about how many days of school are left after Spring Break! Times have not changed! Trees are budding, flowers blooming and we have seen lots of smiles as people walk up and down the streets of Lewisburg. It sure is a welcome sight!
March 30 — Neighbor Night. Lewisburg Trinity Lutheran Church. Meals served from 5-6:30 p.m. Judy and I will be leading this service. Judy is sharing the word (she’s pretty darn good at this and I will lead the music) These half hour services begin at 6:30 p.m. and are finished by 7 p.m.
March 31 — Euchre. Lewisburg Trinity Church. Play this famous card game every Tuesday and Thursday from 9 a.m.-noon. Coffee and snacks are provided.
April 1 — April Fool’s Day.Surprise someone who might have forgotten about the day. Let us know all about it and we will share with others.
This memory is a keeper! The first township election was held in October 1815, and those elected were to begin their duties Jan. 1, 1816. The election took place south of the spring of what later became the Euphemia schoolhouse. Elections were held every year. If an elected official refused to serve, he was fined $2. Any man could hold as many offices as he could get elected to (aren’t you glad that this rule changed?)
March 25 — Jamie Wilbur
March 26 Anniversary: Mike and Sherry Bayham
March 28 — Barb Traylor (In loving memory)
March 29 — Mason Webster
March 30 — Chloe Harry, Everett Trittschuh, Dan Gullickson
Albert Schweitzer once stated “Do something wonderful, people may imitate it.” In the aftermath of the Brussels tragedy, it is sometimes hard to see the great happenings that are occurring around us. Super things are happening in our village. Concerts, the Cumberland House, Neighbor Night, etc. We don’t have to look very hard to find something great! Always remember: “There is spirit; there is grace in our peaceful country place.”
Until next week …
