Community Garage Sales

The hot weather broke just in time for the Lakengren Community Garage Sales held on Sept. 10, 11, and 12. Folks were up early during the cool morning hours, checking out all the prices and where they could find the best bargains. If you missed it, there will be another Community Garage Sale event next spring.

Summer Series Closure

The A & E Committee is now winding down their Summer Concert Series that began in early June. These special evening events held at the Marina covered acoustic folk, a jam band, the Worley Boys favorites, Southern rock, Americana songs, and the old school rockers. Just last week, the musical entertainers called Equilibrium brought their power mix trio for a cool summer evening concert.

As in the past, just let the A & E Committee members now you appreciate these special activities, and look forward to their return next summer.

Bill Turner Remembered

Condolences to the Bill Turner Family. It was shared that if Turner had not brought a catalog of street lights to a CLC meeting at the lodge, the current lamp posts around the front mall would not have been built.

Each post honors a family that paid for the lamp post by an inscription upon each one. We will remember Bill Turner and all the others who supported and allowed this project to come to fruition.

Casual Summer Church Ends

Reverend Sadai of the Sugar Valley United Methodist Church reports the services held early Sunday mornings at the Lakengren Marina are now ended. Only one Sunday service had to be held indoors this summer with most being outdoors under the shelter house.

Sadai wishes to thank the Lakengren Property Owners Association for allowing him to bring this service to the community.

Annual Meeting Date Set

The Lakengren Property Owners Association Annual Meeting will be held on Saturday, Oct. 24, at 9 a.m. at the Lodge. All Lakengren members are welcome to attend.

Everyone will be interested in the progress report about the pool study.
