Middle School Art Show results released

EATON — The Preble County Creative Kids Art Show was held recently at the Fine Arts Center. The Preble County Creative Kids Show is coordinated by the Preble County Educational Service Center along with the school district art teachers. The show was divided into two separate shows one for elementary and one for middle school art. Artwork that is displayed in the show is chosen by the local art teachers. Middle School artwork is judged and awards are given in various categories.

Elementary students were given participation ribbons for their work. Middle School artwork is judged by an anonymous panel of judges and awards were given for 1st, 2nd, 3rd and honorable mention. A Best of Show award is also given from the artist who received a first place award in their medium.

The results of the 2017 Middle School Art Show is as follows:

Black and White Drawing: 1st – Makayla Lipps (Eaton) 2nd – Alaina Schaeffer (Eaton), 3rd – Kaleigh Michael (Eaton), HM – Abby Towe (Eaton);

Color Drawing: 1st – Josie Geary (Preble Shawnee), 2nd – Brooke Bartrum (Twin Valley South), 3rd – Dylan White (Twin Valley South), HM – 2 winners—Josalyn Miller (Tri-Co North) and Shawn Rogers (Preble Shawnee) ;

Mixed Media: 1st – Jayda McQueen (Eaton) 2nd – Nick Marion (Eaton) 3rd – 2 winners—Katie Wright (Twin Valley South) and Paige Keller (Eaton), HM – Carson Taylor (Preble Shawnee);

Sculpture: 1st – Taylor Mowell (Twin Valley South), 2nd – Haneet Kang (Eaton), 3rd – Ethan Talbott (Preble Shawnee), HM – Trent Hicks (Preble Shawnee);

Prints: 1st – Gracie Straszheim (Twin Valley South), 2nd –Taylor Mowell (Twin Valley South); no third or honorable mention available.

Painting: 1st – Henry Kochensparger (Eaton), 2nd – Kayleigh Michael (Eaton), 3rd – Carson Taylor (Preble Shawnee), HM – Carsyn Lammers (Eaton);

Graphic Art: 1st – Aaron Cole (Twin Valley South), 2nd – Rylee Gamble (Eaton), 3rd – 2 winners—Maddie Wright (Eaton) and Lauren Schaurer (Eaton), HM – Rylee Ruebush (Eaton);

Pottery: 1st – Tess Murphy (Eaton) 2nd – Cari Metz (Eaton) no third or honorable mention available.

The Best of Show award was presented to Taylor Mowell from Twin Valley South for her Sculpture, “Whale Shark.”

The High School Art Show will be on display from April 22 through May 11. The awards reception for the High School show will be held on May 4 at 6:30 p.m. Please come out to the Fine Arts Center and see the beautiful artwork from our Creative Kids.
