You receive an email or phone call claiming your computer has been hacked or has a virus. In a frantic state, you pay the caller to fix the issue. Without confirming the issue was legit or not, your personal information has been compromised. This is what’s called a tech support scam. So, before you act on the pressure, think to yourself, is this legit?

Being thankful; letting the positives lead

It’s getting closer to Thanksgiving and whether you celebrate it or not, it is a good time of the year to think about what we appreciate in our lives. I’m sure we will hear some of the standards, like our family, friends, God, our homes, food on our tables, clean water to drink, our jobs, etc.; but what about those people that don’t have those things? Its hard to imagine not having some of these in our lives. And maybe for some people it’s normal for them to not have some of these things, but there are at least a couple of these that we need to survive in our journey here on earth.

Wow! There is an end to over 100 degree temperatures for over 100 days here in Texas. As I write this it is 57 degrees at 8:30 a.m. But I don’t want to celebrate too soon. The 90 degree weather is due to return later in the week. But with any luck this week will be the last of summer in Texas.

October unlucky for criminals

You almost have to feel sorry for some criminals. The September column recalled burglars wrestling the safe out of Steck’s bakery in 1933 and finding it empty.
