New to Eaton, Savvy Squirrel gives shoppers a unique experience for consignment enthusiasts.
Located on North Barron Street, Savvy Squirrel offers its patrons stylish clothes, chosen by owner, Cherry Murwin, for all ages. Trinkets along the walls catch passersby’s eyes as they browse throughout the store. Baby shoes, clothes, accessories, mobiles galore are all offered, on top of racks of clothes, hats, gloves, purses, dress suits, scarves, and much more.
Shoppers are invited to bring unwanted clothing items to the store to be evaluated by Murwin. If desired, Murwin will purchase items from the shopper for either in-store credit, or a running credit. Later, the shopper is able to return to collect their percentage of the profit of their items, or continue to use in-store credit.
The idea for the store came as a joke between Murwin and coworkers, she said.
“We were originally going to call it the ‘Stuck up Squirrel’,” laughed Murwin, who is pleased she changed the name. The demand for a consignment store north of Dayton was high, according to Murwin, and her location in Troy was where she believed she would have the most success.
Eaton’s location is the second for Murwin, who began the now-chain in downtown Troy.
