Tri-County North remained undefeated in the Cross County Conference with a pair of league wins last week.
The Panthers opened the week with a 6-2 win over Tri-Village Wednesday, April 15.
Nick Gary went the distance on the mound striking out nine. Austin Elmore went 3-for-3 at the place and collected a pair of RBI. Blake Lawson added three hits and drove in two runs.
The Panthers then pounded Ansonia the next night, 23-0.
Tri-County North scored one run in the first inning, two in the second, 17 in the third and three in the fourth while shutting out Ansonia.
For the game, the Panthers had 23 hits and committed one error.
Austin Hutchins picked up the win for North, pitching all 5 innings and striking out 11.
Kyle Edgin was 5-for-5 with a double and 3 RBI. Hutchins added four hits and 2 RBI. Lawson had three hits and 3 RBI. Kodey Hawthorne collected three hits.
North closed out the week with a 4-0 non-league loss to Carlisle.
Elmore suffered the loss tossing 5 innings and striking out six.
“Overall the week was good for (us). We still need to eliminate the mental errors but the team is playing better as team,” North coach Larry Gray said. “Saturday we went down to Carlisle and played very good game until the sixth inning. The team is showing each week improvement, and as a coach that is all I can ask of this ball team.”
North (8-2) was scheduled to visit Bethel on Tuesday, April 22 before hosting Miami East on Friday for their only games of the week.
