After opening the season with a come-from-behind, 10-9 win over Mississinawa Valley on Wednesday, April 9, National Trail’s softball team dropped four straight.
Trail battled back from a 9-5 deficit to beat the Blackhawks. The Blazers scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth, then collected the winning run an inning later. For the game, Trail collected eight hits, including a double by Jennifer Stan.
The next night, the Blazers suffered an 18-3 loss in 5-innings to Newton.
On Friday, April 11, Trail jumped out to a 2-0 lead over Tri-Village in the first inning, only to be held scoreless the remainder of the game in suffering a 4-2 setback. The Patriots scored all four of their runs in the third inning.
Maegan Rogers paced the Blazers by going 3-for-3 with a triple.
Trail closed out the week by dropping both games of a double-header on Saturday. Trail lost to Carlisle 9-5 and Chaminade Julienne, 10-1.
Against Carlisle, Stan had a pair of doubles, while Marisa Wilson went 3-for-4 with a double.
The Blazers (1-4, 1-2 Cross County Conference) were scheduled to play Centerville, Indiana on Monday and Ansonia on Tuesday. They will play Union City, Indiana, on Wednesday, Bethel on Thursday and close out the week with a game against Valley View.
