If the snow has all melted and the weather is starting to turn warm then Stingrays’ season is fast approaching. So grab a friend and come on out and have some fun swimming and meeting new friends on the Stingrays. The Stingrays will start conditioning April 7 and the season runs through May 30 at the Preble YMCA.
Conditioning times for ages 10 and under is 4:30-5:30 p.m., and ages 11-18 is from 5:20 to 6:30 on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday.
There will be two different sessions, session one April 7 to May 1 and session two, May 5-May 29.
The cost for one session is $40 or $70 if signing up for both sessions. For more than one child and signed up for both sessions, the cost for the second child is $50, and for three or more the cost is $40 per child.
It is not a requirement to do conditioning to be on the Stingrays.
The Stingrays are building on a very successful 2013 season. There were 142 swimmers; they went 5 and 2 in dual meets, won two invitationals and a second place finish at the SOSL championships. This was the 5th year in a row they finished second and they are looking to take over first this year.
Coach Liz Mahan is back for her third year as head coach and she just completed her junior year at Purdue University, where she is studying Psychology and Forensic Science. She plans to graduate in May 2015 and attend graduate school for Forensic Psychology. She is looking forward to seeing everyone at the pool this summer.
The Preble County Stingrays is open to any swimmers interested in developing their swimming skills and having a fun time doing it. This year, the season runs June 2-July 12, with seven dual meets and two invitationals and the Southern Ohio Swim League Championships.
