Disney’s “The Little Mermaid”
Please join us for the high school presentation of Disney’s “The Little Mermaid”. The play will be held Friday March 21 and Saturday March 22 at 7 p.m., and Sunday, March 23 at 2 p.m. in the Auditorium. Tickets are available pre-sale in the High School office or at the door. Cost is $8.
The HS Band will perform March 30 and 31 at the Findlay Market Parade. We are in the process of ordering new marching band uniforms. Marching Band Cook Books make great gifts at just $10 each. Sales are first come, first served! Please contact TVS HS Band Director, Kris Baker, Booster President Kathy Landwehr at 336-2511 or any Band member. Checks should be made out to TVS Band Boosters and can also be mailed to P.O. Box 204, West Alexandria, OH 45381. We appreciate your support! If you are interested in becoming a part of our Band Boosters, please join us on the third Tuesday of each month in the TVS Band Room at 7pm. We always need fresh faces and ideas!
W. Alex at Expo
The Celebration Committee will be part of the West Alex Village booth at the Preble County Expo at the Fairgrounds in Eaton, Ohio again this year. We would like to compile a list of events that will be happening in our community from April 2014-April 2015 to hand out at this event. If you would like your business or organization event or fundraiser to be listed please provide specific information to Michelle Laughlin via facebook or email firstname.lastname@example.org by March 22. Events will also be added to the Village facebook pages. Minimum information required: Date, Time, Organization/Business, Name of event, Location of event. The West Alexandria SAL James E. Ryan Post#322 will be hosting a St. Patrick’s Day Dance Saturday, March 22 from 8p.m.-midnight. Flat Out Band will entertain at cost of $10 per person, limited to 140 people. The Canteen will close at 7p.m.. You must have a ticket for the dance to enter after 7 p.m. Tickets are on sale now in the Canteen, 477 Ohio 503 South in West Alexandria. The Children’s Easter Egg Hunt will be Saturday April 19 at 11 a.m. Please sign up in the canteen by April12. Children must be sponsored by a member and be 12 yearsof age or younger.
Twin Valley Rod and Gun Club
Venison for Food Banks
The Twin Valley Rod and Gun Club semi-annual Turkey Shoot takes place every Sunday from February 23 through April 27, 2014. Starting time is 1p.m. This event is open to everyone and we hope to see a nice crowd. This is our main fundraiser each year. Come on out and win turkeys, hams, bacon and packages of mixed kinds of meat. Money shoots are also held.
The Venison for Food Banks of Preble County program is on-going. Anyone who takes a deer can donate all or part of the meat for the Foodbanks. We have sponsors who will take care of the processing fees. You may contact Brad Turner, Preble County Game Warden, or Curtis Early at 937-533-3226.
Alpha Kappa Sorority of West Alexandria is offering two $500.00 scholarships to two graduating seniors attending the Twin Valley South High School or West Alexandria seniors attending MVCTC. The recipient of these scholarships must be planning to attend an accredited college, university, technical school or community college. The selection will be based upon academic qualifications, participation in extracurricular activities, a written essay, and a teacher recommendation. Applications for these scholarships can be picked up at the Twin Valley South High School Guidance Office. The deadline for submitting applications to the Guidance Office is April 7. Alpha Kappa Sorority is proud once again to offer these two scholarships to deserving students of Twin Valley South High School.
AKS Euchre Tournament
Doors open at 5:30 p.m. April 5, at the American Legion. Euchre tournament starts at 6p.m. Cost is $15 a person for Euchre tournament (includes admission, euchre tournament, Live music, BYOB, Prizes for first and second places). Limited availability for Tournament/ Pre-Sale tickets only to Euchre Tournament.
Band event only-Live Music by 3 Play - starts at 9:30 p.m.
Pre-sale admission $8 ($10 at the door) but space/ admission is limited so buy a pre-sale ticket- this admission includes live music and BYOB (doesn’t include participation in the tournament- though you may attend and watch the tournament if you like to watch people play cards)
50/50 and assorted raffle baskets for silent auction will be there to help raise money for AKS endeavors to support our community!
Pre-registration is due no later than March 29, or until limited space is filled for both the tournament and the band.
Alpha Kappa Sorority has been serving our community since 1941. We are a non-profit organization of women who raise money to donate to families during the holidays, and throughout the year. We provide 2 scholarships to graduating seniors from TVS, and we sponsor the Oktoberfest Queen Contest, the local library, WABO and the fire dept. among other things. Thank you for coming out and supporting our events!
Items needed are tuna, instant oatmeal, egg noodles, box mashed potatoes, pancake syrup, spaghetti sauce, and shampoo. You may contact the Foodbank at 839-1615. Hours are Monday and Wednesday from 10 a.m.-noon, at St. John Church, 20 East South Street.
The first Sunday of each month, non-perishable donations can be brought to Salem and St. John Lutheran Churches.
Calvary Baptist Church
Calvary Baptist Church has started a Good News Bible Club for students in grades K-4 at the TVS Middle School. We meet every Thursday from 3:30-5 p.m. as long as school is open. Contact Wayne Cook at 937-336-9600 or Linda Cook 336-9500 for more information.
St. John Lutheran

Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church
Salem LYO will be hosting a soup lunch directly after worship services on the first Sunday of each month in the Fellowship Hall. Cost will be a donation in any amount. Youth Committee Meetings will be held the first Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall. Catechism classes will not meet during Lent but students are strongly encouraged to attend worship services as their family schedules permit. Classes will meet again starting Wednesday, April 23.
