GREENVILLE - Emergency personnel from Greenville Police and Fire Departments, Greenville Township Fire and Rescue and the Darke County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 7000 block of State Route 121 on a report of a crash Monday afternoon.

According to a preliminary investigation, a female driver of a Mercury Sable claimed that she lost function of her brake as she was traveling northbound on State Route 121. She struck a maroon Buick Regal, headed eastbound on Kruckeburg Road, as her vehicle traveled through the stoplight.

The female driver of the Mercury was still unable to come to a stop before traveling nearly 100 yards. She then decided to turn off her engine which caused her to lose steering. The car went off the roadway and came to rest in a drainage ditch.

The female and the male driver of the Regal were both not injured and refused treatment at the scene. The crash remains under investigation.
