Helmet helps motorcycle rider avoid serious injury

GREENVILLE - A helmet may have saved a local motorcycle rider from sustaining more serious injuries Saturday afternoon following a crash.

According to the Greenville Police Department a male rider of a Honda CBR motorcycle was traveling northbound on the 200 block of North Ohio Street when he struck a southbound Honda minivan that was attempting to turn left at the VFW post 7262.

The motorcycle driver, Ryan Foshee of Greenville, was knocked of the bike before the vehicle slid nearly 50 feet. He was transported to Wayne HealthCare with non-life threatening injuries. According to family members Foshee was later taken to Miami Valley Hospital for further treatment. The male driver of the minivan was not injured.

Ohio Street was closed down for over an hour while an Accident Reconstruction Team was called to investigate to determine if speed was involved. No citations have presently been issued as the crash remains under investigation. Foshee was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
