Preble Shawnee used a big third quarter to pull away from National Trail and claim a 58-41 win.
The host Arrows snapped a three-game losing streak with the win, Saturday, Feb. 1.
Trey Smith (23 points) and Josh Willoughby (18) led the way for the Arrows, who forced Trail into 19 turnovers.
Leading just 23-19 at break, Shawnee opened the second half with a 6-0 run to extend its lead to 29-19 just 2 1/2 minutes into the quarter. After the Blazers scored to cut the lead to 29-22, the Arrows closed out the quarter with a 15-4 run to take a 44-26 lead.
Joby Williams added nine points. Eric Deaton grabbed a team-high 11 rebounds and Wyatt Austin pulled down six.
Stewert led the way for Trail, scoring 17 points, including all 12 of the Blazers’ points in the second quarter.
On Friday, Trail picked up just its second win of the season, beating Bradford 54-30.
Bailey Stewart scored 21 points and had 9 rebounds. Niko Nakis and Kyle Bachman scored 9 points each. Nick Davis added 7 points and 6 rebounds.
The Blazers led 22-13 at half and finished third quarter on 12-1 run to take 34-20 lead into 4th quarter. Their lead never got below 12 in the final quarter.
For Shawnee, they suffered a 65-51 setback at home to Waynesville on Wednesday, Jan. 29. The Arrows placed three players in double figures. Smith, Willoughby and Austin each scored 13. Brian Ketring dished out nine assists.
The Arrows (6-5, 2-4 SWBL) were scheduled to play Dixie on Tuesday and host Milton-Union on Wednesday. They will travel to Waynesville on Friday and close out the week by visiting Twin Valley South Saturday.
Trail (2-15, 2-8 CCC), is scheduled to host Arcanum on Friday, Feb. 7 and travel to Seton Catholic (Richmond, Ind.) on Saturday. The Blazers will travel to Eaton on Tuesday, Feb. 11.
