James E. Ryan Post 322 Valentine’s Dance is Saturday, Feb. 8 from 8 p.m. to midnight. The band, “Flat Out” will be featured at a cost of $7 per person. There will be raffles and a 50/50 drawing. Tickets available in the Canteen, located at 1477 Ohio 503 South in West Alexandria.
Spaghetti Benefit Dinner
A Spaghetti Dinner Benefit for Andy Eck will be held Sunday, Feb. 9, from noon to 6 p.m. at Salem Lutheran Church, 70 E Dayton St, West Alex. Adults, $6, under 12, $3. Includes a silent auction (auction items may still be donated by contacting Wanda DeVilbiss at (937) 839-5483. Andy is a family man who has been diagnosed with a rare condition called Von Hippel-Lindau syndrome. He has tumors or cysts in most of his organs. He has had two surgeries (removal of 20 percent of one kidney) and needs more surgery. He has to make frequent trips, overnight stays, and hospital stays at Cleveland Clinic. Andy has worked for Eaton Fire and EMS, West Alexandria Fire and EMS, EMT Inc. and Westvaco (International Paper). He has served on the Pork Festival Board for eight years and is married to Jennifer DeVilbiss Eck. He is currently unable to work while recovering and greatly needs your support.
Registration forms for West Alexandria Baseball Organization went out to students before break. Sign-ups will be held Feb. 1, and Feb 8 from 2-5 p.m. at the Salem Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall. Contact Kelli Melvin Wright on facebook for additional information.
Venison for Food Banks
The Venison for Food Banks of Preble County program is on-going. Anyone who takes a deer can donate all or part of the meat for the Foodbanks. We have sponsors who will take care of the processing fees. You may contact Brad Turner, Preble County Game Warden, or Curtis Early at 937-533-3226.
Marching Band Cook Books make great gifts at just $10 each. Sales are first come, first served! Box 204, West Alexandria, OH 45381. We appreciate your support.
Items needed are ramen noodles, instant oatmeal, spaghetti sauce, pancake syrup, egg noodles, and shampoo. You may contact the Foodbank at 839-1615. Hours are Monday and Wednesday from 10 a.m.-noon at St. John Church, 20 East South Street.
The first Sunday of each month, non-perishable donations can be brought to Salem and St. John Lutheran Churches.
WACOCA Hymn Sing
Salem Lutheran Church will host the WACOCA Community Hymn Sing on Sunday, Feb. 23 at 7 p.m. Come and join churches from all over the community as we come together in songs and fellowship at 70 E. Dayton Street next to Peace Park in West Alexandria.
St. John Lutheran
St. John along with Salem Lutheran and Trinity in Lewisburg are planning on a work trip geared towards all ages, individuals and families this summer, June 15-22 in Booneville, AK. The work trip will be organized through the Youthworks organization. The price to attend is $269 per person and registration is past due. There will be a few fundraisers planned in the upcoming months to help raise money for those who may need financial assistance. Church Phone: 937-839-5321.

Calvary Baptist Church

Salem Lutheran Church
Jr. Lutherans, for children age three through sixth grade, and Catechism classes meet every Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.
Social Outings of Salem, (S.O.S.) group will be attending the Brookville Community Theatre, “Mama Won’t Fly”, a comedy, on Feb. 22, starting at 8p.m. Cost is $15 with a Jan. 31 deadline due to ticket availability. We will dine at Rob’s Restaurant before the show.
The Men’s Breakfast and Bible Study will begin at 7:30p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 15 in the Fellowship Hall.
Salem Men are offering a matching gift of $200 to the new Sign Fund. Gifts received in January will be matched by the Men up to $200. Make checks payable to Salem Church with the memo “Sign Fund” to have your gift matched.
Children’s Choir practices begin at 9:20a.m., Sunday School classes for all ages begin at 9:30a.m. and Worship begins at 10:30a.m. every Sunday.
