Runaway teen arrested in robbery investigation

GREENVILLE - A runaway teen was arrested early Thursday morning while authorities were investigating a local gas station armed robbery.

At approximately 6:29 a.m., the Greenville Police Department responded to the Circle Mart, located at 100 E . Main St. in Greenville, on the report of the armed robbery.

During the initial investigation it was reported that a male suspect wearing a ski mask robbed the store while brandishing a sword. Cash and cigarettes were reportedly taken before the suspect fled on foot.

Officers located one possible suspect at 307 1/2 N. Main in Greenville. After he was taken to the Greenville Police Department for questioning, a second suspect fled from the residence.

After a foot pursuit, 17-year-old Trey Morton was located just after 8 a.m. hiding in a carport in an alley on the 200 block of North Broadway. He was arrested with assistance from the Darke County Sheriff’s Office.

Morton was found to be a missing/runaway juvenile from Greenville. He was held for questioning and later released to Darke County Juvenile Court personnel to be transported to the West Central Juvenile Detention Facility in Troy.

At approximately 2:34 p.m., Greenville detectives executed a search warrant at the North Main residence where several items were seized. Charges are pending at this time for the person(s) involved in this robbery.
